Tana, was born into the horse world; one of her grandfathers was a horse logger, and the other a thoroughbred race trainer. She has been surrounded with horses her entire life. As a youngster, when girls were banned from the tracks, she would disguise herself as a boy to exercise her grandfather's race horses. Later, that thirst for speed lead her to a career in barrel racing, and later she became a race horse owner herself. As the years went by, her interests evolved to the cutting pen, until Rich introduced her to the world of the “halter” horse.

Sarah grew up in Junction City, OR where they bred, showed and trained Quarter Horses, POA’s and Appaloosas. Today she is still very much involved in the industry showing both locally and at the World Show level. She attended Oregon State University and obtained both her Bachelors in Soil Science and a Masters of Agriculture. She began her career with Citizens Bank in 2010 and has since been putting her Ag degree to work as a commercial lender; forming relationships and supporting local small businesses and farms.
Sarah now lives in Monroe, is raising a little boy that is addicted to anything tractor, has cut back to one Appy that she shows all-around on and owns Chaps By Sarah. She has been involved in the horse industry since she was small, was active in 4-H, coached youth and now just enjoys showing her own.
“2016 was a great year for OApBA, I can’t wait to see what we accomplish in 2017 – Come join us, no matter your breed, interests or location in Oregon….we are here to promote Appaloosa’s and support all equines”!
Rich's love affair with the appaloosa breed began during his college days when he worked his way through school on the back of a horse. He bought his first appaloosa horse in 1972, went to his first show in Flagstaff, AZ, and you might say the rest is “history”. Although he has owned winners on the race track and in the performance arena, his passion has always been the breeding and showing of halter horses.
